BRINGING HIS CREATIVITY TO THE NEXT LEVEL - Lido creates a whole world for his listener with his upcoming album PEDER. The Norweigan based producer explores a variety of soundscapes his fans adore while bringing them something fresh to dive into. Featuring tracks with JoJo, Col3trane, Brandon Arreaga (of PRETTYMUCH), Ebenezer, Heavy Mellow, Santell and Mulherin, PEDER has something for everyone.

The album follows the story line of Peder, a young boy born on a spaceship without music. "Peder stumbles upon a pirate radio station and discovers music for the first time while landing on a deserted planet. Finding musical instruments along his journey, Peder sets forth to recreate music with the tools available to him, and evolves along the way.

In addition to the album, Lido will be releasing his first children’s book, entitled PEDER as well, to further the narrative of Peder’s journey. Get excited to enter the world of PEDER and read below to learn more about Lido’s evolution of sound, his upcoming book and more.

LUNA: How are you doing lately? How has quarantine been treating you?

LIDO: I’m doing okay! Really can’t complain, all things considered. Even though there has been a lot of ups and downs, I think it’s been good to slow down for a lot of people.

LUNA: Sonically, what are some of the biggest ways you’ve seen your sound evolve with PEDER?

LIDO: I think I’ve learned a lot from working with other artists over the past few years, but also I’ve been trying to experiment with structure and surprising the listener in other ways than just loud abrupt sounds and contrast.

LUNA: Which track was the most difficult to finalize and what made you want to stick with it?

LIDO: Probably a song called “Please Fasten Your Seatbelt.” I kept re-recording it and changing the production around until the very end, but there was something so special to me about the writing that I had to see it through.

LUNA: In addition to the album you are also releasing a children’s book - congrats! What sparked this creative avenue for you?

LIDO: It’s been a dream for me to write books since I was a kid. When I make an album, I always make some sort of story to use as guidelines and inspiration during the process. For this album I made up a story about a boy who lives on a spaceship by himself and has never heard music. The idea of his naivety and curiosity helped me make decisions in the album and I decided to turn the story about the boy into a real book.

LUNA: The “Rise” music video is set as the continuation to the book, so will we see this narrative come to life visually again?

LIDO: Very possible. The story is sort of an homage to The Little Prince and The Alchemist so I wanted to reflect that in the visuals.

LUNA: What other areas in addition to music and literature would you like to explore?

LIDO: Film scoring is a big one for me that I’m starting to get into a little bit. I’m curious about every creative avenue, but for me personally the music is always the most important.

LUNA: You’ve been able to collaborate with incredible artists like Chance The Rapper and Jaden Smith. What role has collaboration played in your career?

LIDO: A huge role. I’ve learned so much from working with other artists and I love helping people bring their vision to life. Also, a lot of my own songs start out as ideas with other people that evolve into something so crazy that it might not make sense for that artist anymore and then I can take it even further on my own.

LUNA: What do you hope the rest of 2020 brings you?

LIDO: I hope it will bring a foundation for peace and healing for everyone. RIP Chadwick Boseman.
