HOL - “Lipstick Muse”

Bringing the ethereal and dream-like aura of shoegaze with an idiosyncratic twist is HOL with their latest release, “Lipstick Muse”. Reminiscent of bands like Lush and Chapterhouse, HOL utilises heartwarming chords with quippy and relatable lyricism to tell the story of a failed relationship that simply “wasn’t meant to be”. HOL brings a fresh perspective to the shoegaze genre, which typically emphasizes a wall of guitars, powerful drums, and an overall immersive sound. In their song "Lipstick Muse," HOL captures the essence of shoegaze's overwhelming sound but in a more restrained manner. The track provides a glimpse into the protagonist's mind, which is haunted by memories of someone they would rather forget. However, amidst the overwhelming emotions, there is a sense of resolve and control.

CITRUS MAXIMA - “Chinese Restaurant”
