SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER, BUT SEATTLE'S JUST GETTING STARTED—with another year of Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival happening September 5-6. Bumbershoot has been a Seattle staple since 1971, and this year is one for the books.
This year's lineup features some of the biggest artists in the game right now, including Blood Orange, Lucy Dacus, Joey Valence & Brae, Yves Tumor, Sextile and Orville Peck. As for headliners, Turnstile will be taking the main stage on Saturday night. The Baltimore hardcore band has been touring their Grammy award winning album Never Enough since its release last summer, and now they are bringing their legendary performance to Seattle.
Washington's own Death Cab for Cutie will be closing down the festival with their headlining set on Sunday night. Fresh off the release of their latest album, I Built You a Tower, we are certain Death Cab will make you laugh, cry, dance and dream all in the span of an hour. So bring your tissues, call your therapist and get ready for a night you won’t forget.
Don’t forget to check out some of the city's rising artists all weekend long on the Upper Courtyard Stage, such as Hannah Duckworth, Juliet Daniel and Oble Reed.
Bumbershoot is just as much a celebration of arts as it is for music. You can enjoy everything from comedy, fashion shows, pro-wrestling, and a giant mermaid tank. Oh, and did we mention the cat circus? Whether your vibe is dancing in the crowd or strolling the art gallery, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy.
If you successfully make it out of the Turnstile mosh pit and find yourself wanting more, Chase and Status will be hosting an official Bumbershoot afterparty at Level 1 starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday night.
