For Chloe Star, music isn’t just a sound; it’s a story etched in skin, heritage, and raw emotion. Rooted in Native and Persian traditions, the singer’s art is deeply intertwined with queerness, identity, and the fearless act of self-expression. Their brand-new EP doesn’t reflect personal evolution; it pulses through tattoos, visuals, and lyrics that dive headfirst into love, heartbreak, ego, and everything in between.

In conversation with The Luna Collective, Chloe Star opens up about the power of storytelling, the duality of masculine and feminine energy, and how their body has become a canvas for their musical world.

LUNA: Your heritage is such a powerful part of who you are—how have your Native and Persian roots influenced your music and artistry?

STAR: Storytelling! My roots are deeply tied to tradition and expression, and being connected to both my Native and Persian heritage has made storytelling the heartbeat of my music. I don’t just write songs, I tell stories. That instinct to speak from the soul, to paint vivid emotions and experiences with words, is rooted in my cultural background.

LUNA: As a queer artist, how do you see your identity shaping the stories you choose to tell through your songs and visuals?

STAR: My sexuality is something I’ve always been open and honest about, and that raw truth shows up in my music. My lyrics reflect the real, sometimes messy, emotional journeys we go through in the queer community. They’re all firsthand experiences. Visually, I play with gender and expression in a way that feels powerful and personal. I’m deeply connected to both my masculine and feminine energy, and I feel free to love, dress, and move through the world however I want. I’m proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community!! I’ll scream that from the rooftops!

LUNA: How do your tattoos reflect your evolution as an artist and as a person?

STAR: My body is my canvas. Every tattoo marks a chapter, whether it’s pain, passion, growth, or love. Just like my art, I’m constantly evolving, and my tattoos evolve with me. They’re physical manifestations of my story, my rebellion, my identity, my voice.

LUNA: Do you see a direct connection between the ink on your skin and the sound of your upcoming EP?

STAR: Absolutely. I created a mood and visual board for the EP. So much of that inspiration became inked into my skin. Every tattoo on my stomach came from that board. I wanted this project to live in me, not just around me. The energy of the EP felt so personal, I knew it had to be part of my body, too.

LUNA: Your 5-song EP is said to mirror the fearless aesthetic you wear. What stories are you exploring through this project?

STAR: Heartbreak. Confusion. Ego. Reputation. Love. Sex. Growth. Habits. Evolution. It’s all in there. Every song is a mirror to some part of my journey—messy, beautiful, bold, and unapologetically real.

LUNA: Was there a particular song that challenged you creatively while making it?

STAR: “Teddy Bear” pushed me in a new direction. It had me deep in my feminine energy, which felt a little outside my comfort zone, but that made it exciting. It was sexy and powerful all at once, and that contrast inspired me.

LUNA: How would you describe the sound of this EP to someone who’s never heard your music before?

STAR: Headbanging, Sexy, Pop Punk, Alternative, Love, Chanty
