IT ONLY TAKES A FEW BEATS TO GET YOUR FEET GROOVIN AND YOUR HEART SWOONIN WITH COMFORT CLUB’S “you lost me at i love you” - The dreamy bedroom pop track has a charming 80s tone that brings a perfect touch of nostalgia. LA-based Colin Tracey explores the theme of love and relationships, and all that comes with it through his music under the name Comfort Club. “you lost me at i love you” continues the narrative of love in your 20s, with the latest track serving as an “internal monologue of someone going through the downfall of a relationship”.

Despite the success of his work so far, Comfort Club is careful to take a more wide lens approach to his musical career, finding more freedom in his ability to create whatever music he truly wants to make, rather than what is popular for the time being. Using his music as a way to share his honest emotions and thoughts, listeners can relate in an honest, reflective way.

With a video for “you lost me at i love you” on the way and a tour around the corner, Comfort Club is keeping busy. As he continues to build up a discography perfect for plucking at all the heartstrings, Comfort Club ensures a sense of authenticity with each track he releases. Read below to learn more about “you lost me at i love you” and what’s coming up for Comfort Club.

LUNA: First things first, how are you doing these days? How are ya feeling about all your recent releases?

COMFORT CLUB: I'm doing really well. The highs are outweighing the lows by a lot for the first time in a while. I'm beyond satisfied with my releases too. I started looking at music more through a scope of "lifetime body of work" as opposed to "is my music popping off right now" and that has helped my perspective so much. It feels like I'm making music for reasons other than just trying to be trendy now and I'm happy to have that clarity.

LUNA: Your music touches on the topic of love, an often vulnerable topic. How do you allow yourself to get so raw and open with your work?

COMFORT CLUB: I think love can be vulnerable if you make it that way, but I've definitely grown to be able to just say how I'm feeling. I don't know if it happened first in my music or in my life but the lines have blurred so much between life and music that it all just feels the same now! To be open in my music is to be open in my life and vice versa. I think I have a healthy relationship with saying how I'm feeling.

LUNA: What lyric are you most proud of in “you lost me at i love you”

COMFORT CLUB: "left brain / telling me i think too much // these all-or-nothing head games / i'm wonderin if i'm doing enough." I just feel like I really captured the emotion of a relationship where there isn't enough communication. It's crazy how much you can spin in circles when there's poor communication in a relationship.

LUNA: I love the sweet nature of your tracks as it really makes for easy listening. Sonically, what are some of the key elements you like to play around with the most?

COMFORT CLUB: Thank you! Well, I started with guitar when I was first writing songs so I always like to have guitar elements in a song but lately I've been drawn to electric pianos and key instruments. I just love how warm they sound and they genuinely just take stress out of my life when I listen to them so it's only natural that I like to write with them. There's definitely stuff that happens in those frequencies that just makes me feel safe.

LUNA: Which track of yours are you most excited to play live soon?

COMFORT CLUB: Definitely "you lost me at i love you." I've gotten to play it live twice and it absolutely delivers. I'm pretty fresh to playing live shows but having a song like this in my setlist just makes it easy to stand on stage and take the audience to a different place. I love grooving to it and I think the audiences I've played it for have enjoyed the ride too!

LUNA: Are there any visuals in the work you can give us an insight to?

COMFORT CLUB: Yes! Me and my friends over at somethin' good productions shot the music video overnight in the desert out in Lancaster, California and it was so beautiful. I wanted to just capture some really breathtaking images in the desert and let the video be a bit more of a mood-based project as opposed to a storytelling type of project. I'm so happy with how it turned out and it'll be coming out before July is over.

LUNA: When do you feel most comfortable?

COMFORT CLUB: I feel really comfortable when I'm surrounded by family and loved ones, but I've also been trying to find comfort in solitude as well so in the latter, I would say I'm most comfortable when I have something to be proud of. I think comfort goes hand in hand with self-esteem and if I'm able to keep my self-esteem high, I feel really comfortable and confident with my little corner of the world.

LUNA: What do the upcoming months have in store for you?

COMFORT CLUB: I'm going on tour on the East Coast in August and September!! I'm so excited to start getting my music out there in front of more and more people. Aside from that, just trying to write more and more and play live every chance I get. I would love to hop on a national tour, but baby steps.
