FUSING SULTRY R&B AND SOME POPPY ELECTRONIC ELEMENTS - Two Another brings a smooth flow to every track. The London based act is comprised of duo Angus Campbell and Eliot Porter, each bringing their own edge to their sound. With EP Two Sides coming up soon, Two Another gives fans a taste of their more introspective and experimental taste with their latest single “One Night”. Read below to hear more about the upcoming music, their international tour and more.

LUNA: Your upcoming project Two Sides quickly follows your Another Tape project from 2019. How would you compare the upcoming music to the tracks from Another Tape?

TWO ANOTHER: When you phrase it like that it's been quick but for us it always feels like forever between releases!  We have actually had some of the songs for Two Sides lying around for a while now and we weren’t sure what to do with them or how to finish them. Once we started working with producer Utters he was able to being a new perspective and energy to the tracks. We’ve gone for a slightly more raw and live sound on these tracks compared to the kind of smooth electronic soul vibes on Another Tape.

LUNA: What sonic elements have you been exploring with new music? Are there any elements you’ve yet to tap into?

TWO ANOTHER: I guess working with Utters definitely brought a different flavour to the tracks. He has an incredible library of sounds that he has made, so we've incorporated a lot of new elements like strings and choirs. We also recorded horns, hammond organ and live drums - none of which we’ve ever recorded before on a track. So yeah, we really went for it on this one!

....as for something we would like to use more of, I think we could explore the Talkbox a little further in our music. I don’t think we’ve seen its full potential yet.. and there always the theremin!

LUNA: Y’all recently mentioned the influence of '90s trip-hop artists like Portishead and Massive Attack, are there any non musical influences shaping Two Another?

TWO ANOTHER: I guess our daily lives and experiences influence us, especially our partners.  We make music in lots of different cities, which definitely shapes the sound. Whether that’s in London or Amsterdam or back home in Sydney our best ideas seem to come as long as we don’t stay in one place for too long.

LUNA: In terms of lyrics and the writing end of things, are there any common themes or emotions in the upcoming music?

TWO ANOTHER: The lyrics are much more introspective and personal on this EP compared to our previous work. The songs explore a darker time in our lives where we were both dealing with a lot of different things going on all at once. Themes like feeling alone, frustrations and anxieties about daily life and managing your mental well being are all touched on in the lyrics but also the positive side of life, like falling in love & new beginnings. We still like to write things that are relatable and everyone experiences these ups and downs in life - hopefully the tracks sit in between that happy/sad song!

LUNA: The latest single “One Night” hones in on a more slowed down, almost somber tone. Can you talk a bit more about the creative process behind this track?

TWO ANOTHER: This one is basically about how delicate a relationship can be in its early stages. It touches on the insecurities and frustrations that come with falling in love for the first time, but it's essentially just our attempt at a love song. We wanted the instrumental to contrast the slight tension in the lyrics so we’ve just tried to make it as smooth as possible. D'Angelo was definitely a reference for this one! We want a couple to be able to sit back, relax and listen to this one together and reminisce about all the times they almost broke up ;)

LUNA: Is there anything in particular you want people to take away from Two Sides?

TWO ANOTHER: Hopefully a sense that no matter how hard things get there's always a way out and if you put in the work things you can turn things around.

LUNA: You’ve got an international tour coming up - congrats! How has your live show evolved to reflect your growth?

TWO ANOTHER: On this run of shows we are doing things a bit differently - we are going for a slightly more striped back show, exploring the more electronic side of the project while still incorporating live instruments mainly bass, gtr and keys. It is a lot more energetic this time around which we are really excited about.

LUNA: Between touring and new music I imagine you guys are feeling great but busy! What do you hope the rest of 2020 has in store?

TWO ANOTHER: Yeah it is pretty crazy to get to travel around playing and writing your own music, hasn’t quite sunk in yet! Asides from touring we are finishing up our debut album and Angus is moving to Stockholm in the next few months which will be another exciting chapter. We are hoping to go to the States later in the year and play a few shows and do some writing out in LA.
