YOUR FAVORITE BOY BAND’S FAVORITE BOY BAND ROCKED THE SHORELINE AMPHITHEATRE, marking the "Everyone's a Star" tour stop and their first Bay Area show in four years. I'll admit I wasn't much of a 5SOS fan going into this year, but the energy and vibe these guys brought made a convert out of me by the end of the night. Luke, Michael, Calum, and Ashton played off each other with the ease of a band that's been doing this together for over a decade, trading vocals and guitar riffs while the crowd sang along to every word.

What stood out most is where the band sits right now. Most boy bands at this level these days skew older, but 5SOS feels like it's caught right in its prime, still young enough to be cool, still carrying that aura, without tipping into the cringe territory of a typical teenage boy band. It's a rare sweet spot, and it showed in how comfortable they looked on stage. The setlist balanced the newer, more polished tracks off this era with scrappier early hits that had the whole amphitheatre jumping, and Shoreline's open air setup let that nostalgic pop-rock sound carry out into the night. By the encore, it was clear this tour is as much about celebrating how far the band has come as it is about the music itself.
