KESHON CAMPBELL’S NEW SINGLE “DESIRES” BREAKS THROUGH THE SILENCE—to deliver a trancelike tale of losing a battle where your desires overshadow your well-being. Incompatible relationships bring emotional tugs, which is a dilemma Campbell understands more than most. He’s in too deep yet lays his emotions bare in the track for all of us to witness.
The Portland-based artist is managed by Burn Money Music label alongside notable artists ILoveMakonnen and Bocha. The roots of all three musicians remain consistent in their artistry, emotional honesty and attention to detail. Each detail is intentional. “DESIRES” is built on a tension-driven tempo, emotional vocals and lyrical entrapment through repetition. It drives the listener to join Campbell in his downward spiral. Dizzying and mysterious, all surroundings are lost in “DESIRES.”
Dreamlike and ethereal tracks have a way of pulling listeners away from their reality to develop a connection with the specific message and space the artist is trying to create. Keshon Campbell himself is stuck in a never-ending dream where he’s “losing track of time.” The relentless cycle persists, and Campbell can’t find his way out. It’s reminiscent of a moody midnight drive, but the only direction you can go is in circles.
Also a cinematographer, Keshon Campbell was very hands-on in creating the “DESIRES” music video alongside Jason Navarrete. The imagery of the video is warm and hazy. Campbell himself appears elsewhere despite the tantalizing environment. Intentional glitches and wavering lights pull the viewer into his disheveled state of mind. It perfectly complements the track's atmospheric tone.
