UP-AND-COMING INDIE ROCK BAND KROOKED KINGS made a stop at Lincoln Hall in Chicago this past week on their In Another Life 2026 Tour. This tour follows the release of their album of the same name just a few weeks ago. After finding recent success on social media with their song “Lying Through Their Teeth”, their new album, In Another Life, follows a similar, yet more matured, sonic pattern that is sure to catch the mainstream soon. In Another Life emphasizes the alternative rock aspect of their sound, something that differentiates it from the band’s previous discography. Their Chicago set featured a blend of old and new, introducing fans to their newborn release while also satisfying their cravings for their old sound.
Opening the evening was LA-based, Annika Wells, an incredible pop artist that I was surprised I’d never heard of before. After doing some research, I discovered that though I didn’t know her name, I was familiar with her writing, as she is well known in the California scene for writing hits for major acts like BTS, Tinashe, and the Jonas Brothers. Her lively, yet poetic, set was the perfect amuse-bouche for what was to come.
When the lights finally dimmed, signaling it was time for the headliners to take the stage, the chatter in the room shifted to cheers, as the anticipation finally culminated. Krooked Kings took the stage, and immediately, I watched as the entire room lit up. Fans sang and danced alongside the band, eagerly awaiting the next song as soon as the previous one ended. There are still quite a few dates left on the Krooked Kings spring tour, and if you have the chance to see them live, you definitely shouldn’t pass it up!
