Review: Neal Francis in Los Angeles

CREATING THE PERFECT ATMOSPHERE TO ESCAPE THE LA RAIN - Neal Francis provided us with an evening of psychedelic rock and cozy vibes at The Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles March 28. The Chicago-based musician felt all the love from LA for a charming show reflective of everyone’s excitement to be back into the swing of live music. Fans eagerly waited outside the venue, even when the rain picked up, and steadily streamed in up until minutes before his set.

Opening up with “Alameda Apartments”, Neal Francis and his band powered through the setlist, allowing each track to have its own moment for a full instrumental breakdown and spotlight. Within a few minutes, a few things were very clear - Neal Francis and his band were incredible musicians, the instrumentals were gonna be taking the center stage of the performance and most importantly, the crowd absolutely loved it. Spending his time between his two pianos, Neal Francis kept the energy high with his smooth yet attention grabbing vocals. With limited banter and keeping the focus on the music, Neal Francis made sure to express his gratitude throughout the evening and could certainly feel the pure love in the room.

Relishing in the ability to play his long-awaited sophomore album In Plain Sight across the country on this tour, fans kept the energy high with each song played, for both old tracks like “Changes, Pts. 1 & 2” and newer tracks like “Problems” and “Can’t Stop The Rain”. Throughout the course of the show it was a joy to simply take in the setting and see just how much the crowd was soaking up the music without a care in the world. Offering a temporary escape, Neal Francis created a musical world easy to get lost in

With tour dates booked well into the summer, Neal Francis has a busy season ahead. Treat yourself to an evening of incredible live music and make sure to catch Neil Frances on this tour.
