THIS SPRING, SEATTLE-BASED ARTIST THAVORON RETURNED WITH ANOTHER SOUL-STIRRING SINGLE – “Attitude,” is a moving three-and-a-half-minute arrangement that reclaims sexual power while recognizing the vulnerability it entails.

There’s strength in both facets, and Thavoron is embracing it.

Through a sonically hypnotizing production, its bass and beautifully haunting vocals bear its emotional depth. Moving the listener through a transcendent wave of guitar, there’s a heightened sense of intimate storytelling.

“My attitude, rather, my sexual energy, is my superpower,” she says about the track. “This song came from recognizing that sometimes the hurt feels desirable, and understanding how much power someone can hold over you when intimacy and safety become intertwined. It’s about claiming that power back, even when it’s messy.”

Tapping into influences such as the early days of The Weeknd and other artists like The xx and FKA twigs, “Attitude” builds into a stunning confrontation of tension between the collision of intimacy and stripped emotion. Thavoron is exposing the messy nature of these feelings, but as the song builds, it confirms that she’s in control, and that the power is, and will always be hers.

Since the release of “Attitude,” listeners are connecting with the track. With the sound having over 600 posts on TikTok, Thavoron’s authentic, hypnotizing sound has become the soundtrack to late-night reflections documented on cellphone cameras.

This response aligns perfectly with what Thavoron had in mind.

The music video for the single, directed by Maddie Ludgate, fills the screen with a Tumblr-era glow, pink and purple lightning cast over Thavoron as her choreographed moves bounce throughout each shot of her in a private hotel room. It’s raw and unafraid: a sentiment that the artist has never stopped leaning into.

As a new era begins with “Attitude” as the introduction, there is one difference. She’s never been scared to be honest, but now, she’s not scared to reclaim all the power it takes to do so.
