TWO FRIENDS PULLED A MASSIVE CROWD TO CENTRAL PARK on Friday, September 12. The DJ duo, known for their high-energy sets and throwback remixes, took over SummerStage as part of the city’s outdoor concert series. The stage has been busy all summer with different artists, but this one stood out. On September 12, people showed up by the hundreds, filling the park with ticket holders who were clearly ready to move. You could feel the anticipation before the first track even started.
Once the music kicked in, the whole space lit up. Two Friends managed to bring together fans of all ages and boroughs. The set leaned more pop than heavy, with bright, playful remixes and fun throwbacks that kept people jumping and singing. They played ‘Satisfaction’ by Benny Benassi and mixed it with their own style, making the song feel new and exciting. Instead of dark, pounding bass, it was upbeat and colorful. The kind of music that makes you want to jump with your friends and shout the lyrics.
During the performance, one stood on top of the DJ booth, dancing, while the other sprinted across the stage, riling up the crowd. Bursts of red flames shot up behind them on a massive screen, amplifying their energy. The crowd bounced to the beats like a rave as purple lights washed over them. This wasn’t just another SummerStage performance. It felt like the park had turned into a city-sized block party.
Midway through, they surprised the crowd by bringing out a smooth jazz musician with a live saxophone. The contrast gave the set a unique twist and sent everyone into a roar. That moment really stuck out, because it gave the night a playful, live-band feel you don’t normally get from a DJ duo.
By the end, no one was ready for it to be over. Walking out, the songs were still echoing in my head, and you could hear groups around you talking about their favorite moments. Two Friends kept the crowd locked in from start to finish, and honestly, I’d see them again without hesitation. SummerStage has hosted plenty of artists this year, but this night in Central Park will definitely be the one people remember.
