SPOTLIGHT: Jade LeMac Talks ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ and Blowing Up Online

JADE LEMAC’S BREAKOUT SINGLE “CONSTELLATIONS” WAS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG—At just 16 years old, the pop singer wrote the song that would instantly gain traction on TikTok and go on to amass over 300 million Spotify streams. Her career skyrocketed after Netflix picked up “Constellations” for the soundtrack of season one of the show My Life With The Walter Boys (MLWTWB). The third season of the show released August 6, 2026, and features four of her latest songs off the EP It Always Happens At Night (2025): “Running Home,” “Sleeping With The Lights On,” “Intertwined” and “Sweet Dreams.” These tracks play at pivotal moments in the show, aiding the energy of the onscreen whirlwind romance.
LeMac’s music is pure storytelling. Six years after writing “Constellations,” she reflects on how proud she is of where she started and how far she’s come.
“My relationship has changed with [‘Constellations’] in a way where I see [it] differently now. I feel like [it] has a different meaning now, because I have just seen and heard so many different people have different interpretations of the song. But I've also just grown myself…Even seeing the song being used in the show was crazy. I’m super grateful that it happened,” she says.
When the song blew up, it was nothing short of surreal. She started noticing her sound was really connecting with people when she saw their responses online.
“Watching as people started making TikToks with the sound and seeing it just on social media, I was like, ‘Oh, that's my voice!’ It was so weird, because then my friends are all sending me stuff and then being like, ‘Oh my God! I saw your song on this video!’” she says. “Then, seeing those videos doing well, too, was when I started realizing it started streaming really well. It all came at once, and it was really crazy to see. The goal is always to get your music out to as many people as you can, and it was definitely helping. So it was very exciting.”
LeMac’s glad to see the songs off her EP It Always Happens At Night take on new life as they get incorporated into episodes of MLWTWB.
“With [my] EP It Always Happens At Night, I didn't have a set idea of how I wanted to write. I was just writing and keeping songs that I liked. I think ‘Sleeping with the Lights On’ was the first song I wrote on the EP, and that one was super vulnerable. And then ‘Sweet Dreams’was another very vulnerable one. ‘Running Home’ and ‘Intertwined’ were just two more upbeat songs where I experimented a lot. And those are the four that are now in the show, and it's really cool to see them and the scenes that they're placed in. I feel like [seeing them in the show gives them] a whole new meaning. I was really trying to do pop in a way that still felt authentic to me while experimenting [with my sound],” she says.
Since the release of season three of MLWTWB, “Running Home” has particularly taken flight. In episode one, when protagonists Cole and Jackie meet at a familiar spot to confess their growing feelings for each other, “Running Home” expertly paves the way. LeMac sings “If I’m what you need / I’m running on home to you” and seals the deal as the couple kiss in a heartwarming moment that fans have been excitedly waiting for.
After the kiss, Cole asks “So, how are we going to do this?” Jackie confesses, “I have no idea.” It’s young love at its finest—and LeMac understands. The raw emotion she shares in “Running Home” perfectly encapsulates the beautiful way Cole and Jackie found their way back to each other, overcoming all the odds in Silver Falls. This sync has been a turning point for the track, driving home a 5x surge in listenership and allowing “Running Home” to flourish in multiple international markets.
LeMac chooses to daydream for inspiration when she’s writing—much of her work flows well with MLWTWB because of how much she prefers writing with characters in mind. Recently, LeMac has focused on her upcoming EP. Her process is abstract—she doesn’t start with a goal or concept, but more so just strives to write as authentically as possible and build off of that.
“There's times where I write completely about my own experiences, and sometimes it can be narrowed down to one certain situation. Sometimes I just have an idea, and I use my imagination to write about it, because I haven't actually lived through something like that,” LeMac says. “Like, the new song that's unreleased right now, but I've been performing live. It's called ‘Pretty with Your Mask Off.’ I wrote it about Stockholm syndrome and being kidnapped…and I've never been kidnapped, so I had to really dig into my imagination and what I feel like that would have felt like. I had to just [imagine] myself as if I've been kidnapped before. I don’t know [why I chose to write about that]. Sometimes it’s just easier to write about a story.”
Case in point: it’s not always happy and romantic with LeMac’s songwriting. “Sweet Dreams” has its time to shine, too, in the final episode of MLWTWB’s third season. This time, unfortunately, in a much more heart-wrenching scene. The season ends with audiences wondering: is this the end of their beloved romance?
One thing’s for certain: Jade LeMac masterfully contributes love and heartbreak to season three of My Life With the Walter Boys.
