WITH BOLD INTENTIONS IN AN EXPLORATION OF SELF-LOVE AND HEARTBREAK - British/Colombian Sasha Keable’s latest EP, Intermission is a deep-dive into the multitude of raw feelings and emotions that accompanies love in whatever form it may take.

Released two years following Keable’s EP, MAN, Intermission has been curated with an ease that accompanies a daring passion to create honestly and authentically. Keable’s latest EP explores themes close to both Keable and her listeners alike, covering topics of heartbreak and the representation of introspection, with the intention of portraying a divine sense of female empowerment. Perhaps this is boldly present within Keable’s collaboration with Jorja Smith, having released “Killing Me”, in September of this year. Accompanied by dreamy guitar riffs, and soothing visuals, “Killing Me” is a clear reminder of the need for strength and self-love, belief, and the remedy of letting go to find power from within as Keable encouragingly declares “I need to be loved by myself, it's okay to ask for help, but not from you, not from you, anymore.”

With the recent release of Intermission, Keable’s collaboration with Jorja Smith is starkly representative of the emotive inspiration embellished within Keable’s return as an artist. Read below to learn more about the process behind the EP, and Keable’s upcoming plans for the year ahead.

LUNA: Huge congrats Sasha on the release of your latest EP! What has your creative experience as an artist been like, and how has your journey evolved since you first started out?

KEABLE: I’m a lot more self-assured than I was at the beginning of my journey. I think I realise I don’t create for the sake of creating. I'm quite methodical in how I create. It doesn’t just pour out. I can’t just be like I need to write and do it. I have to feel the intention and that comes from a feeling of “i have something to get something off my chest.”

LUNA: Your latest single “Killing Me” involved a collaboration with singer-songwriter Jorja Smith. How did it feel working together artistically to produce the song?

KEABLE: It felt amazing to collaborate with someone who is so on the same page as me and who’s at the same place in their life as me emotionally. It always feels good to collaborate with a strong female.

LUNA: “Killing Me” seems to focus on some pretty raw and introspective lyrics. How did it feel to write and produce a song so personal?

KEABLE: I literally do it every time I write a song so it doesn’t feel that difficult. It doesn’t feel difficult to put it out into the world but yeah I guess it does feel difficult to write the initial song.

LUNA: Since “Killing Me” touches upon quite a self-reflective narrative, is this introspection also present within other songs on your upcoming EP? What kind of themes can we expect from it?

KEABLE: Self-love and break-up. The two polar opposites.

LUNA: Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind the visual element of “Killing Me”? And what does the process look like when you are creating this visual side of your artistry?

KEABLE: I think that for me the imagery is so important. I visualise things while I'm writing so I like to tie everything together with my vision on how I want to portray everything. I’m always making mood boards and gathering images for when the time comes to shoot. It was good to make a video with someone else there because I usually get quite nervous so it was reassuring to have Jorja with me.

LUNA: Obviously, you have your upcoming EP coming out very soon which is super exciting! Are there any other upcoming projects you have that you would like to touch upon?

KEABLE: Intermission is such a long time coming, so I’m just focusing on that.
