FREYA SKYE MAY BE ONE OF THE YOUNGEST ARTISTS CURRENTLY TOURING, but you wouldn’t guess it from the way she performed at the Fox Theatre in Oakland. At just 16 years old, the rising pop star delivered a dazzling performance that completely blew away my expectations. From the moment she stepped into the spotlight, it was clear she understood how to hold a crowd — confident vocals, natural stage presence, and a level of polish that many artists spend years trying to develop. The set felt effortless in a way that made you forget how early she is in her career.
Watching her live, it’s impossible not to notice hints of other modern pop stars, and I mean this in the most respectful and positive way as this could be taken negatively, she gives off shades of Sabrina Carpenter. Comparisons like that can be tricky; some might worry it could slow down her rise or place her in the “next version of…” category. But honestly, I don’t see that happening. What stands out most is how naturally talented Freya is vocally and how confident she already is as a performer. Those qualities feel uniquely hers, and they point toward someone who’s shaping her own lane rather than borrowing someone else’s.
Coming into the show, I wasn’t particularly familiar with her catalog. Walking out, I left a fan. There’s an excitement that comes from watching an artist at the very beginning of what feels like a huge trajectory, and this performance had that energy written all over it. If this is what Freya Skye is doing at sixteen, her ceiling feels almost exponential. I’d bet this is just the start — and if I had to guess where her career is headed, I’d say the stars are aligned straight to the moon.
