THE COCA-COLA SIPS & SOUNDS MUSIC FESTIVAL RETURNED TO AUSTIN WITH A LINEUP ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL - featuring headliners Christina Aguilera and Calvin Harris. The Coca-Cola event proved that it isn’t just another event in the SXSW ecosystem - it’s THE show you want to be at. Returning to the beautiful Auditorium Shores, the festival felt like a completely elevated experience compared to last year. With the Austin skyline acting as a permanent, glowing backdrop and perfect weather to match, the vibes were high from the jump.
What stood out most this year was the sheer improvement in production and experiential depth. While last year left us wanting a bit more to do between sets, 2026 delivered. The grounds were packed with intentional, high-energy activations, from a vibrant Peace Tea pop-up to a fun beauty SmartWater experience. It’s clear that Coca-Cola is leaning into their presence at SXSW, establishing this as a polished, premium ecosystem that feels accessible and easy to navigate between other festival activities.
Where the festival shined the most this year was of course, the talent. I really appreciated the range of artists and genres, leaving something for everyone. Friday was a masterclass in range, moving from the rising energy of Aiden Bissett and Between Friends to iconic artists like Major Lazer Sound System, and Grouplove. But the crown jewel was the legacy herself, Christina Aguilera. Seeing a powerhouse of her stature against the Austin skyline felt like a rare, incredible win for the fans.
The momentum only built as we headed into the rest of the weekend. Some of our favorite highlights included Mallrat and Jade LeMac who both brought fresh, essential energy to the early slots. Stephen Sanchez charmed us with his crooning vocals and Flipturn continues to be a personal favorite, and their set proved exactly why they belong on these massive stages. Foster The People reminded the crowd why they continue remain so beloved and put on a good show as always.
By the time Calvin Harris took the stage on Saturday night, it was clear who the people had shown out for. Having seen him twice before, I can confidently say he remains one of the best to ever do it. His discography is unmatched, and production of this set was really tasteful, alongside some perfectly timed pyro, and fireworks that lit up the city skyline throughout the entire performance.
The sound quality was crisp, the crowd was electric, and the value for the ticket price was undeniable. Sips & Sounds has successfully transitioned from a "new kid on the block" to a staple of the SXSW experience. We’re already looking forward to seeing how they top this next year.
